Here's a little secret..
|
We all know that sometimes the sales tactics and confusion by a high pressure sales person can lead to spending much more money than is necessary. Take your time and do your research before making a commitment to purchase a timeshare. It could be the best decision that you have ever made or the worst! Here are three important things to remember that you'll need to stay one step ahead of the high pressure sales person when visiting a timeshare property or attending one of those owner update meetings.
|
1. No matter how good that the marketing person makes it sound just remember this. There is no such thing as an owners update! The invitation and free gift is designed with one thing in mind. To high pressure you into buying more points or another week of timeshare. Remember, that also means another maintenance fee! Your time is far more valuable than a gift card or a so called free vacation. Read the fine print! There will always be additional requirements including extra fees and blackout dates.
|
2. If you decide to attend an update remember that the sales people and managers are extremely well trained! They will try to overcome any objection that you present. You have to be strong and Just Say No! Dont let the salesperson tell you that this price is only available today! That's only a sales tactic! If you are truly interested in owning a timeshare make sure that you do your homework! Always check the resale market. You will save thousands at the same resort when you purchase on the outside market!
|
3. Buying a timeshare may not always make sense for you and your family. It's a big commitment! A large initial investment along with increasing annual maintenance fees that can be thousands of dollars per year! These are costs that you will never recover! Many times you can find the same timeshare resorts for rent on the Internet. An entire week can be over half the cost of an annual maintenance fee.
Hotels Etc. is a great example of an inexpensive membership program that can save you thousands! |
You can rent for less! |
No matter what the timeshare salesman tells you owning one may not be the best for you. With so many restrictions and high maintenance fees sometimes it makes more sense to rent on your terms. Company's like Hotels Etc. will save you hundreds when renting in the same timeshare properties for far less! And never have to go on a sales presentation. When you are a member you will have access to thousands of beautiful timeshare condominiums for as little as $399 for an entire week! Plus huge savings on many other things like hotels, airlines, cruises, condos, restaurants, theme parks, movies, Broadway shows, shopping, golf, sporting events, concerts and so much more! |
Does this sound familiar?
You deposit your week into the exchange system hoping to get the resort and week that you desire. And as is usually the case, it's never available. You hear responses like we can start a special search for you if you'll go ahead and bank your week with the pre-paid exchange fee. So the search for the perfect vacation starts but you always seem to end up taking your 4th or 5th choice for dates and locations. They will also mention that, magically, instead of an exchange they have managed to find a special rental week for exactly what you were looking for in the first place. Of course for an additional rental fee which can be as much or more that your maintenance fees! All that they are doing is holding back the already deposited popular resorts and weeks so that they can rent them out for much more money. This way they are able to profit from renting out the high demand inventory! Many times they will even rent out to non-owners and advertise to the general public. If you don't rent one of those, they know that you will most likely go ahead and accept one of their alternate exchange choices. Either way they win by profiting from high value rentals or collecting exchange fees for the more undesirable inventory that they don't want to be stuck with!
The best way to avoid this kind of problem is to own a timeshare at the exact resort, unit and week that works best for you. Any other type of timeshare ownership is just a very expensive gamble. You may be better off renting through a discount club like Hotels Etc. After all, that's all you are really doing when you try to use the exchange companies except that they sure don't offer any discounts!
